Bringing Greater East Montgomery County history to life during the 2015 Texas Sawmill Festival on June 6th from 10 AM to 10 PM! This year's event is set to be bigger and better than ever before, so SAVE THE DATE and make plans now to bring the entire family, lots of friends and neighbors with you.
You will not want to miss a community celebration of the Greater East Montgomery County area where sawmills were once a regular business. The Texas Sawmill Festival will convene at our new location in Bull Sallas Park in New Caney.
Montgomery County was home to more than 250 sawmills since the late 1800’s. Many of the families in East Montgomery County can trace their ancestors back to several local sawmill factories and are excited to share the history, experiences and knowledge they have about their families and the area. This event is great for the whole family and a way to remember the history of the area. Enjoy beautiful music and don't miss our BBQ Cook-off. Bring your entire family and enjoy a day filled with fun and excitement! We encourage attendees to dress the part and enjoy the festivities as one of our own. The EMC Historical Society traditionally has a booth full of items that provide a rich education on the area and its foundational trade. They will also have history books and photos on hand that allows for guests to see what the area was like in the past. Our arts and craft vendors are ready to show off their latest creations. Each vendor is bringing unique and highly valued arts and crafts from surrounding areas. Guests will be entertained with live music, car show, heavy logging equipment show, petting zoo, rock wall, and logging demonstration competitions.
