Washington Performing Arts:
The Philadelphia Orchestra
Washington Performing Arts has had the most enduring relationship with the Philadelphia Orchestra. In addition to the return of dynamic music director Yannick Nézet-Séguin, our audiences will hear celebrated violinist Hilary Hahn—in the first of two Washington Performing Arts performances this season—performing Henri Vieuxtemps’ lush Violin Concerto No. 4. The orchestra’s famously glowing string section and rich, homogeneous sound are showcased in Bizet’s fiery Carmen Suite and Stravinsky’s complete Firebird, which round out the program.
“The ensemble… has never sounded better…. The Philadelphia Orchestra seems to have found its ideal music director.” — The New York Times on Yannick Nézet-Séguin
This performance is made possible by the Dallas Morse Coors Foundation for the Performing Arts. Hilary Hahn’s appearances this season are made possible through the generous support of Dr. Gary Mather and Ms. Christina Co Mather.
This concert is not presented by Strathmore.
